The Glemmtal Valley isn’t just one of the most beautiful relaxation and leisure regions in the Austrian Alps: the area around Saalbach Hinterglemm also offers a wealth of opportunities to pursue various sports and to marvel at truly stunning nature. At the head of the valley in Hinterglemm you’ll find an adventure playground of the highest order. From the smallest visitors to adults who remain young at heart, everyone will find a leisure activity that is right up their street:
Schnitza’s Wood Park and Devil’s Water
In Schnitza’s Wood Park everything is themed around wood. In addition to an impressive exhibition of carved art, woodcarving courses and a host of figures, there are lots of creative games to discover. These include milking competitions with a wooden cow named "Resi", pendulum skittles, extreme crazy golf, a log puzzle, a balancing beam and catch with wooden balls.
Right alongside the park there are also numerous attractions for water fans. Throughout the summer the magical world of the Devil’s Water in the head of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm can be enjoyed completely free of charge. The attractions here include a kneipp pool, a fishing pond, a forest play house, a mill wheel, a rock cave, an alpine herb trails and sites with stone dragons, fairies, gnomes and dancing forest spirits.
The Treetop Walk and the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps
The head of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm has set new standards with one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the Alps. The Treetop Walk is the highest such trail in the whole of Europe. Together, the 200-metre-long Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps and this 1-km circular trail in the treetops - both of which are suspended around 40 metres above the ground – form an ensemble that is completely unique in the world. An adrenaline boost and unforgettable photos are guaranteed!
Austria’s largest high ropes course
The high ropes course at the head of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm consists of several courses for different ability levels situated from 3 to 40 metres above the ground. Visitors put their courage and skills to the test and there are fun tasks and fabulous views – a whale of a time is guaranteed! The different elements and stations require climbing, balancing, sliding and swinging using a variety of rope and bridge constructions.
